Chengdu Day 1: Touchdown and Loads of Uber Cute Pandas!

To be honest, I never planned to go China to travel but I'm glad that Chengdu was my first destination thanks to AirAsia X and Chengdu Tourism. Located in the Southwest of China, it is the 4th most livable city in China, and mostly encompass the Sichuan language and culture. Especially the food.

AirAsia X flies to Chengdu daily (Weekdays 1815 - 2240 and Weekends 0915 - 1340).

We arrived in Chengdu at 10.40pm at night, and our tour guide, Mr Chu was already waiting for us! He speaks very good English, and his mandarin did not have the China accent which I really liked! :D

Say hello!

We then checked into Jin Jiang hotel which is one of the oldest hotels in Chengdu, and we straight away slept for a full day tomorrow!

I always loved hotel breakfast so I woke up especially early for it. And look at this amazing view for breakfast! :')

Took some Szechuan noodles to prepare my stomach for all the Szechuan food!

Chengdu is also all about Pandas! And I loved it very, very much!

I was SO EXCITED when we are going to the Chengdu Panda Base!

The tickets to the research base only cost 58 yuan (RM30) which is very reasonable! This research base was founded in 1987 with only 6 pandas rescued from the wild. And today, it has a total of 83 pandas!

I fell in love with the place the moment I stepped into it.

So much greenery, so much cuteness, and so much effort have been done to keep this place clean and appropriate enough for the panda conservation efforts.

There were tour bus available for only 10 yuan and you get to explore the area faster. But I do not recommend it though, walking through the reserve was more enjoyable! :D

Although, we had to walk quite a distance before arriving at the Panda enclosures because of the sheer size of the place.

And beware, PANDAS INCOMING!!!

I tried bringing one home as well...

... but I failed.

There were many other places to explore such as the Giant Panda Kindergarten, theater and museum which completes the experience.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is not only home to pandas, but it is home to Red Pandas, and various other endangered Chinese animals. When I saw the baby peacock, I actually chased after the duo to snap the picture. SO CUTE!

The highlight of the day was definitely watching a trainer trying to get a baby Panda down from the tree.

It was having trouble and was pretty scared to come down. T_____T Thank god the trainer managed to coax him down at last and we were all cheering!

We also adjourned to the nursery to see this cute little newborn panda. SO ADORABLE! :') This gem was only 14 days old when this picture is taken. When a baby panda is born, it is only 1/1000th of the mother's size.

Please grow up and be the cutest panda ever. :')

Here's a short video of this little gem!

I really enjoyed my time at this place. So worth coming if you ever come to Chengdu! :)
