The More Serious Stuff

*Clears throat*

High heels, check!

Smart dressing, check!

Glasses, check!

Tidy hair and Olympus Pen EPL-1, CHECK!

Today, I am gonna blog about the more serious stuff about the Olympus Pen EPL-1.

To those who are wondering;

Micro Four Thirds technology in the Olympus Pen EPL-1 enables you to take good digital quality pictures, interchange the lenses all with a small body.

The flash will only be used if you activate it, which I find very useful. My current cam flashes crazily whenever there are too little light.

It took me only an hour to navigate through the camera, as the layout is simplified for the user. Very user friendly. Even my sister who have not touched a DSLR before easily learned how to navigate through the camera's functions.

Olympus Pen EPL-1 boasts 5 metering functions for exposure. I really like the Spot Shadow function, it is perfect for silhouette shots.

The various color reproduction mode you could play one. iEnhance mode automatically enhances the contrast and the colors of your picture which I find really nifty! :D I love the Monotone feature as well, as the shadows and highlights are brought out perfectly.

Low ISO produces very smooth images! :D Noise only started appearing on more than ISO1000 and it is only very mild! If you really had to use ISO3200, you can be rest assured that the image won't look grainy. :D *Thumbs up Pen Pen*

I've mentioned before on the Kelvin white balance here, Pen Pen has a wide arrays of White Balance for you. Images under the sun, shade and cloudy comes out really, really well! The Fluorescent White Balance works well, but a touch of warmness to it.

I purposely left out the art mode here as I'm going to do a separate post just for it cause I love it so much especially the Pinhole art mode! <3

However there are downside, the Auto focus seemed a little slow at times, as it could find a proper focus. But other than that, it's awesome!

:P

Om nom nom nom..

NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!!!

My family is a very weird family, we stay in Ipoh, but we do not really eat Beansprout Chicken noodles. We do not drink Funny Mountain Tau Fu Fah. One reason is it is too far, and my dad don't really like travelling all the way to town to eat.

But, that does not mean Ipoh got no other good-food-which-is-near-to-our-home! :D Pictures below are from the 3 places we often go for our meals.

Golden Point Restaurant in Taman Bercham Jaya, Bercham.

My family frequent this place, a lot, when I mean a lot, almost every time when mommy did not cook. And when we go there, we eat back the same thing everytime ahahahha!!

Sotong Kangkung / Squid with Water Spinach - RM3.50

Popiah! My favorite! - RM3.20

Rojak! The aunty adds a lot of peanuts for you which I really, really like! :D - RM3.50

Black Pepper chicken chop rice, with salad and egg - RM4.80

Thai Sauce Chicken Chop Rice - Also RM4.80

A bonus: Look at the close-up of the Thai sauce chicken chop rice taken by Olympus Pen EPL-1. Amazing details right? :)

Sizzling noodle! Brother's favorite - RM3.80

Singapore Curry Mee, very thick curry. I like it cause it's not as spicy as normal curry - RM3.80

The infamous Stadium Indera Mulia food court! Located opposite Ipoh Fire Station and The Red Crescent Society. I really love the contrast on the picture above. :)

Okay, so when you come to 'Stadium', what do you order? We usually go to the middle section, where the first shop is a rojak stall called Loh Kwan.

Wan Tan Mee! But they raised the price already, and the portion getting smaller although the noodle is really, really bouncy.

I only eat Prawn Wan Tan :D - RM4.00

The drink stall is run by 2 aunties, and is next to the rojak stall. We always order the AWESOME ice kacang! Look at the abundant ingredients. You can choose between Red Sugar, Normal Sugar, or Brown Sugar. - RM2.40

Here's a close up! :D

And Lemon Jelly! :D Perfect for the hot weather. - RM1.80

And another close up! I really love it when I zoom in close close to the pictures that I take, and I see all this!>

Tau Fu Fah! - RM1.00. Not really nice, cause it's a little bland. But the picture is so nice I could not bear not to post this up. Taken by my sister by the way. I think her chemistry with Pen Pen is also great. :3

The expensive Beef Noodle from the next section. Urgh, it's RM5.50 per bowl, which I think it's too expensive. But the soup is really sweet though. My dad added 2 more condiments, which amount the whole bowl to RM6.50 omg.

Oh, this one I really recommend! Hong Kong style Chee Cheung Fun, from the next section as well. - RM3.00. The texture is really smooth!

If you really want a nice Beef Noodle, besides the Sister's Beef Noodle in Tong Sui Kai, try going to New Hollywood Restaurant. My family and I frequent here every Sunday for breakfast.

X______________________________X

The couple who runs this stall recognizes us already, and I think they always give us extra! :D My mom always adds 2 pieces of meatball to her noodles. :D - RM4.50, add 0.50 cents each if you add the meatball.

NOM NOM!!!!!!! (Translation: CLOSE UP!!!!!)

I used to Photoshop my pictures to make the background blur for food pictures cause I think it looks nicer like that, but now with Pen Pen, ahohoho~ Just resize and upload! :D

Lucky I didn't hit Pen Pen's Olympus Zukio lens if not I'm doomed.

Family's Silky Smooth Skin

Olympus Pen EPL-1 is a hidden gem, really a hidden, hidden gem. :D

Discovered Hidden Gem!!!

I've mentioned many times that Pen Pen capture details really well, but there's a downside when it comes to portrait pictures. It'll take even the smallest blackheads or pimple! Bad bad!

However!! Olympus Pen EPL-1 has this nifty E-Portrait function! It is located under the Scene mode. It will automatically generate two images for you under this function; one normal picture, and another HD-like picture.

Do hover the image with your mouse to see the before and after picture okay? :D Pictures before hover are all before. Please wait for the image to load k? :P

My handsome Grandpa! <3

My used to be cute and adorable brother! <3

My hardworking Daddy! <3

My lovely Mommy! <3

Basically what it does that it soften the skin when you use this E-Portrait feature so that you'll appear smooth and nice! :D Love this function very much. However, it only works if you shoot someone's face, or it'll come out with this warning.

Face Detect Error. Haha!

Wrinkles, pores will all be soften with this feature! If you noticed with my Grandpa's and Brother's pictures, other body parts such as the chest or fingers will soften as well, to balance the whole image.

And if suddenly realized you forgot to use E-Portrait picture, you can always edit it straight from the camera. Just choose E-Portrait on the editing mode. :) Simple!

Morning Market

Usually I get real excited the day before when my mom asked me to go to the morning market, then when morning approaches, I do not want to go and prefer to sleep instead.

But when I gotten Pen Pen, my determination to wake up is so great! :D I brought Pen Pen to the morning market with me, my mom and my aunt and uncle in Shah Alam to take some pictures with it.

So I dragged Pen Pen and myself to the morning market for a mini shoot. :)

One thing I realized about this morning market is that they have a separate section for the non halal items.

*Shudders*

Very, very huge. But did you know that pigs are clever and clean? :)

Had to use Program Mode here as I do not want to be standing in the middle of the busy market to take pictures. But the outcome is lovely. I had to hold tightly to Pen Pen because my uncle told me that some people might just snatch it away.

I realized that fishes or in BM, Ikan are very fascinating subjects to take.

Sigh, baby sharks are being sold here! T_T Why why why! I really don't understand. Why can't we banned sharks from being sold?

I love this picture! Thank you Olympus Pen EPL-1!! *Hugs Pen Pen to death* Look how creepy the bottom fish is? Brr...

Some shots I used Single Focus on the Aperture mode for all these shots, but after that I discovered Manual Focus which was much better as I can control which angle to be blurred and whatnot. :D

Formula 1 Shah Alam Peanuts! Ahohoho. I really like how the Olympus Pen EPL-1 have the ability to capture the colors even I'm using the shutter speed feature.

Vegetables! :D

Flat Peas? Omg my knowledge on vegetables are the worse.

Purple flat peas? T_T Omg save me. T_T

Long beans!

Lady Fingers, I don't eat these.

I don't eat round and cute brinjals either.

Chinese cabbage.

One red cherry tomato amongst many yellow ones!

I emphasize a lot on colors; and Olympus Pen EPL-1 never fails me. I love how vivid the colors of the vegetables are, especially on the cherry tomato picture. Am so contented with this. :) (I have not used the Pop Art filter yet and yet, each hue is brought out nicely. :))

All pictures above are taken under both yellow and natural light.

If you did not know, this new Olympus Pen series have multiple options for White Balance, which is very important in taking photographs. I used program mode so all I had to do was to play with the White Balance.

I learned to use this color temperature feature in Olympus Pen EPL-1 called Kelvin which I really, really like! Basically, you can get manually set the color temperature, the higher the K units is, the more bluish the image will be.

Taken with Kelvin 12000. (12000k)

Kelvin 5000. (5000k)

Or if it's too complicated, the Auto White Balance works smartly as well. (I used it A LOT as well and I never need to adjust the white balance everytime with the help of the Live MOS sensor :P)

I want Pen Pen to be my sidekick forever. :(
